ULAB, West Yunnan University explore deeper ties in research and academic exchange

The two universities explore research partnerships, faculty and student mobility, and joint academic initiatives

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has held a meeting with a delegation from West Yunnan University, China, to explore avenues for academic and institutional collaboration.

The meeting took place on Aug 23 at the ULAB campus, bringing together senior representatives from both institutions to discuss opportunities for deeper engagement, a media statement said.

ULAB Vice-Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza attended the meeting and underscored the importance of expanding international academic partnerships, facilitating knowledge exchange and creating greater opportunities for students and faculty to engage across institutions.

The West Yunnan University delegation was led by Vice-President Prof Zhang Yanmei,, who expressed interest in building closer academic and institutional ties with ULAB.

The delegation included Associate Prof Huang Jiezong, director of the Office of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation; Associate Prof Li Jianbo, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office; Associate Prof Chen Yinghong, deputy dean of the School of International Education; Prof Yu Longfeng, dean of the School of Biotechnology and Engineering; and Dr Yang Hui, director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka.

Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, special advisor to the board of trustees and treasurer, along with deans, department heads and senior officials from ULAB, also joined the discussion.

The two sides explored potential cooperation in academic exchange, joint research, faculty and student mobility, and collaborative initiatives.

Both universities expressed interest in pursuing mutually beneficial opportunities and expanding institutional ties through sustained academic engagement.
