Uttara University has organised a seminar titled “Relationship First Aid for Female Students”, aiming to raise awareness about healthy relationships, empower female students and build emotional resilience.
The event was jointly hosted by the Mental Health Unit and the Office of Student Affairs on Wednesday at the university’s Multipurpose Hall, discussing the importance of building confidence to address and respond to harassment for a safer campus environment, a media statement read on Wednesday.
The seminar concluded with a speech by Professor Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Vice Chancellor of Uttara University, who emphasised the importance of mental well-being, emotional resilience, and institutional support for female students, it added.
The seminar began with an inauguration by Prof Gour Gobinda Goswami, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University, followed by welcome speeches from key university officials, including Shah Ahmed, director of the Office of Student Affairs, Mohammad Ali, controller of examinations, registrar Kazi Mahiuddin, and Prof Haspia Bashirullah, treasurer of Uttara University.
The technical sessions began with “Understanding Relationships”, conducted by Md Abu Zahid Hasan, psychological counsellor of the university, followed by “Explanation of Neuropsychological Differences in Male–Female Relationships”, presented by Afshana Najnin Jicia, assistant counselling psychologist.
The third session, “Legal Advice &: Institutional Support”, was delivered by Jayasri Samaddar, associate professor of law. The final session, “Instant Crisis Intervention and UU Mental Health Support”, was conducted by Nurjahan Islam Suchi, assistant counselling psychologist.
The event was proudly supported by the Office of External Affairs, along with the Brand and Communication and Public Relations Team of Uttara University.
