The entry time for female students at five residential halls of Dhaka University has been extended by one hour, with the gates now set to close at 11pm.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane said the decision was taken at a Syndicate meeting, the university’s highest policy-making body, on Monday,
“The time limit for female students to enter the halls at night has been extended to 11pm. A committee has also been formed to address the problems faced by female students,” he said.
The committee will be headed by Alfasane, while the provosts of the five female students’ halls will serve as members.
For about a month, some female student platforms, including “Oborodhbashini”, have been staging different programmes demanding the withdrawal of entry restrictions at female students’ residential halls.
