A three-day Daffodil International University (DIU) Book Fair 2026 has concluded, drawing over 7,000 visitors each day and featuring 21 publishing houses.

Organised by the DIU Library and DIU Press, the fair ran from Aug 9-11 to promote reading among students.

The event was held in collaboration with the Bangladesh Book Publishers and Sellers Association, with Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) of UGC as the official sponsor, the university said.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Masum Iqbal inaugurated the fair in the presence of university officials, BdREN representatives and writers.

According to the university, visitors browsed publications in Bengali and English, including novels, poetry, essays, academic works, and research books.

The university said the strong turnout reflected growing interest in books and knowledge on campus.

Regarding the event, university authorities said: “The habit of reading books is very important in building a knowledge-based and creative society. Along with academic education, regular reading of books enriches the thinking power, creativity and knowledge of students.

“Such an event creates an opportunity for students to get acquainted with new books and authors and increases their interest in seeking knowledge.

“Such initiatives will continue in the future to encourage students' knowledge and reading habits.”

The participating publishers displayed books covering literature, culture, history, research and contemporary issues, alongside academic publications.

According to DIU, the fair also allowed students and researchers to discover new titles and select books based on their interests and needs.
