Dhaka, Oct 23 (bdnews24.com) – Sunil Kanti Bose, the former Posts and Telecommunications Ministry Secretary, on Tuesday took office as the new Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
Telecom Ministry Public Relations Officer Shefayet Hossain told bdnews24.com that Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddque replaced Bose as the Telecom Secretary and Bose joined as the new BTRC Chairman.
Siddique was the Chairman of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation before the Ministry of Public Administration on Sept 4 issued an order appointing him as the new Telecom Secretary.
Another Public Administration Ministry order issued on Sept 23 appointed Bose for three years as the head of the telecom regulator of the country.
The post fell vacant following the death of Major General (Retd) Zia Ahmed on Sep 10.
Sunil Kanti Bose joined civil service in 1979 after completing his education in Zoology from the Dhaka University. He also served as the Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and the Director of Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre (BANSDOC).
