Behind every unforgettable meal is a chef whose story is as rich as his recipes.

The Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel in a statement on Saturday said it is proud to welcome one such storyteller to its kitchen–Chef Aphithak Withojit, fondly known as Chef Mac, as the new executive chef.

With over 40 years of culinary adventure, he has cooked his way across the globe—from high-end resorts in Thailand to luxury hotels in the Middle East.

Most recently leading the kitchens at W Doha Hotel, his journey includes key roles at Anantara Hotels, Burj Dubai, and working alongside Michelin-starred Chef Nobu at the world-renowned Nobu restaurants, the statement read.

He also served as the executive chef and brand ambassador of Spice Market by Chef Jean-Georges, a concept by the three-Michelin-starred chef, during his time in Doha.

He was appointed for exclusive and confidential hospitality assignments for the Royal Family in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and later in South Africa, where he collaborated with other Michelin-starred chefs.

Renowned for his ability to lead large culinary teams and train them to the highest international standards, Chef Mac is a master of managing world-class kitchen operations. But beyond the titles and accolades, he is someone who believes food should tell a story—of place, of people, of emotion.

He brings with him a deep love for Asian flavours, a passion for thoughtful presentation and a respect for ingredients that can only come from decades in the craft.

Originally from Thailand, Mac is soft-spoken but fluent in English, Thai, Laotian, and conversational Japanese.

“What excited me most about joining Renaissance Dhaka is the spirit here—the openness to creativity, the respect for different cultures, and the warmth of the people,” he shared.

In his new role, he will lead all culinary operations at Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel. From redefining restaurant concepts to elevating event dining and driving innovative menu development, his leadership promises a new era of gastronomic excellence. With a career steeped in global mastery and a passion, Chef Mac is poised to craft experiences that linger long after the final bite.
