Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) has pledged to create more employment opportunities in Bangladesh as part of its business expansion plans.

The commitment was made during the group’s annual employee performance evaluation programme, “Leap of Progress,” held at a hotel in Dhaka on Mar 7, the conglomerate said in a statement.

Around 500 senior officials from various business units of the conglomerate, including members of the board of directors, attended the event.

MGI Chief Human Resources Officer Atiq uz Zaman Khan welcomed the board members and senior leaders at the programme.

MGI celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025, and the board used the occasion to outline strategic directions for future growth.

Senior officials also discussed initiatives aimed at strengthening sustainable growth and modernising the workplace.

Speaking at the event, MGI Chairman and Managing Director Mostafa Kamal said the group had contributed significantly to Bangladesh’s socio-economic development over the past five decades.

“To sustain this momentum, we are expanding our factories and operations,” he said. “Alongside business growth, we remain committed to creating employment opportunities for the country’s skilled workforce.”

He said rapid technological advancement and changing global market conditions are reshaping business operations and creating demand for new skills.

“Our young professionals are adapting to these changes. By strengthening market-driven knowledge and skills among our youth, Bangladesh’s industrial sector can contribute more to the global economy,” he added.

Among others present at the event were MGI directors Tahmina Mostafa, Tanjima Mostafa, Tanveer Mostafa and Barrister Tasnim Mostafa, as well as Senior Executive Director Taif Bin Yousuf, Executive Director and Head of Export Sameera Rahman, Wasikur Rahman, and Rashik Chowdhury.

During the programme, the company also announced promotions for deputy general manager-level and other senior officials and handed over their promotion letters.

MGI operates 57 industrial units across Bangladesh and employs more than 65,000 people. The conglomerate has businesses in FMCG, building materials, energy, hospitality and financial services.
