Dhaka, Nov 26 (BDNEWS) – The Bangladesh Institute of Management Studies (BIMS) Saturday launched the certification course for GCE A Level in applied subjects for the first time in Bangladesh.
"The course is more suitable for students who are doing practical works," Dr. David Davies, Academic Services Manager of Edexcel International, said immediately after the singing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the BIMS and Edexcel at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel.
He said the Edexcel recently introduced the course and will gradually expand it to another 111 countries where it has liaison offices.
The BIMS offers subjects including business studies, information and communication technology (ICT) and travel and tourism for the desired students. The BIMS is the Edexcel approved institute in Bangladesh, which has adopted the course.
"The students will be able to apply for higher studies at home and abroad without facing hassles after completing the level," Mirza Taher, Regional Development Manager of Edexcel said.
Khondker Mahbub Uddin Ahmed MP, BIMS Programme Director Samiur Rashid and Edexcel Country Manager Saidur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Nearly 10,000 students register for London GCE qualifications at O-Level and A-Level from Bangladesh each year, official sources said.
