Mohammad Hossain, chairman of the controversial multilevel marketing company Destiny Group, has been released from jail after more than a decade after serving his full sentence in an embezzlement case.
He was released at 10:30pm on Wednesday, Abdullah Al Mamun, superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail-1 said.
Hossain’s release documents were presented to the jail authorities, who scrutinised them and released the inmate as there was no detention order in other cases, the jail superintendent said.
Relatives and Destiny Group members greeted him with flowers at the jail gate.

Judge Md Rabiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 handed 12 years in jail to 19 suspects including Hossain and Rafiqul in a case over the embezzlement of funds secured from selling trees under the Destiny Tree Plantation Limited.
The court fined the convicts Tk 45.15 billion in addition to the jail sentence.
They were released after completing the 12 years of their jail sentences. However, Rafiqul’s wife Farha Diba was still in prison as her jail term has yet to finish, her lawyer said.
