Samiha Khan has been appointed director of Daffodil Group in recognition of her professional performance and institutional contributions over the past five years.

The promotion was announced at a ceremony held at Daffodil Plaza in Sobhanbagh on Thursday, according to a media statement issued by the group.

During the event, Samiha was honored with three distinct institutional accolades.

Daffodil Group Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Nuruzzaman formally handed over her appointment letter, while Daffodil International University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr MR Kabir presented her with a certificate recognising her leadership and organisational contributions.

A separate recognition award was conferred for her role in advancing the group’s organisational philosophy and growth, the statement said.

It added that the appointment reflects her professionalism, efficiency and diversified contributions across multiple units of the organisation.

Before joining Daffodil, Samiha worked with several national and international institutions.

She completed an internship at the English daily Dhaka Tribune during June–July 2014.

In 2016, she joined the Yunus Centre, founded by Nobel laureate and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, where she was involved in social development and policy-related work as an intern.

She later served as a research assistant at UK-based organisation Citizens UK from January to April 2017.

In 2019, she worked as a course ambassador at Middlesex University in the United Kingdom.

From July to November 2020, she held the role of marketing director at Keen UCL.

The press note said she also worked with the Youth Policy Forum from September 2020 to June 2023 as coordinator and network lead of the Environment Policy Network, contributing to youth leadership development in policy and environmental sectors.

Over the past five years at Daffodil, she has worked with Future DIU, Brand and Communications, the Career Development Center, International Affairs, HRDI, Daffodil International School and Daffodil Computers Limited.

A structured HR software system was introduced under her leadership, forming the basis for transparent and modern employee evaluation across the group.

Samiha completed her undergraduate degree at Middlesex University and her postgraduate degree at University College London.

She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University.

Samiha will formally assume her responsibilities as Director of Daffodil Group from 1 February 2026. At the same time, she will continue to serve as a Director of the publicly listed company Daffodil Computers PLC.

She will assume her responsibilities from Feb 1, while continuing to serve as a director of the publicly listed company Daffodil Computers PLC.

“Daffodil Group believes that this appointment will further strengthen merit-based leadership development and the organisation’s succession planning policy,” the statement read.

Senior officials of Daffodil Group and the university were present at the ceremony.
