Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin has promised to ensure an environment that creates equal opportunities for everyone to conduct business in Bangladesh.

Speaking at the 9th meeting of the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC), organised by the commerce ministry in Dhaka on Monday, he said: "Trade facilitation will be ensured by identifying unnecessary regulations related to trade and reviewing the rules and regulations governing trade.

"Through trade facilitation, we will establish justice and create a level playing field, which will enhance our trade volume and economic capacity."

According to a press release from the ministry, the advisor said: "We want an efficient trade regime that will greatly improve our national economy and also serve as a major platform for the equitable distribution of resources.

"We also want to reduce tax evasion and to develop efficiency. The automation of the customs authority's activities will make imports and exports easier."
