Gas supply to the national grid has resumed from Excelerate Energy’s floating LNG terminal in Moheshkhali after a three-day halt.
Supply of imported gas rose by 106 million cubic feet between noon and 6pm on Saturday, officials said.
Officials of Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Ltd (RPGCL) said the terminal resumed supply using LNG already in its storage.
The terminal had stopped supplying gas after Wednesday noon after its deliverable LNG stocks ran out.
A new LNG cargo also arrived at the US company’s terminal around noon Saturday, though unloading had not started by evening.
Officials said it could begin around 10pm.
Petrobangla data showed LNG supply from the two floating terminals rose from 581 million cubic feet a day at noon to 687 million at 6pm, an 18.2 percent increase.
Domestic gas supply edged up from 1.62 billion to 1.62 billion cubic feet. Combined supply rose 109 million cubic feet to 2.31 billion, about 5 percent higher.
Against daily demand of around 3.8 billion cubic feet, the evening supply covered 60.8 percent, leaving a shortfall of about 1.49 billion cubic feet.
Excelerate initially supplied around 100 million cubic feet using stored LNG, with supply gradually increasing rather than returning immediately to full capacity.
The terminal had been partly restarted on Aug 6 after a Jul 21 fire damaged electrical cables and halted around 450 million cubic feet of daily supply.
