The government has locked in a 15 percent export growth target for the current fiscal year despite negative trends driven by conflict in West Asia and tariff hikes under Donald Trump's US administration.
Unveiling the strategy at the Secretariat on Sunday, Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir mapped out plans to raise merchandise revenues to $55 billion in the 2026-27 fiscal year -- a $7 billion step-up from the $48 billion recorded in FY26.
He projected a parallel 15 percent expansion across both goods and services, aiming to push total export receipts to $63.4 billion.
Under the fiscal roadmap, merchandise exports are likely to bring in $55.2 billion while services will generate $8.2 billion.
The minister noted that services exports brought in $7 billion in the outgoing fiscal year, laying the baseline for the forthcoming expansion drive.
