He spoke about his annoyance at the high rate of dropped call at the Dhaka Club during the auction of 4G spectrum and tech neutrality on Tuesday.

“Eight calls are dropped on way to office from home. The operators had cited the absence of tech neutrality as a reason behind the lack of quality service,” he said.

“Now we’ve opened the doors to spectrum and tech neutrality. No faulty services will be accepted anymore.

“It can’t be that you’ll fail to provide quality services even after having 15 times more subscribers here than the operators have in Malaysia. No excuses for faults in services will be accepted,” he warned.

The minister said the operators should provide uninterrupted quality services because the people were not taking it for free.

He also asked the operators to pay more attention to maintaining fast internet.

In the auction, Bangladesh raised Tk 52.89 billion in revenues from 4G frequency allocation and tech neutrality fees from three mobile operators.

Operators Grameenphone and Banglalink paid Tk 38.44 billion for new frequencies.

The earnings in tech neutrality fees from GP, Banglalink and Robi are Tk 14.45 billion.
