The event was inaugurated on Tuesday with the unveiling of the eighth issue of the University of Dhaka Faculty of Business Studies magazine, which features a cover story on the empowerment of women in the corporate sector.
The inauguration event was arranged with the support of VoB’s chief patron, the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam.
The VoB is a quality publication that gives readers a clear sense of the business landscape, he said in his speech.
“The new generation has the power of social media, which makes them more advanced,” he added.
Bangladesh Bank Chief Economist Faisal Ahmed was the special guest.
“You are as big as your dream, the roots and your dreams will define how strong your base is and how long you will go,” he told the guests in his address. “To achieve your dreams try to think globally.”
Financial Express Planning Editor Asjadul Kibria handed out awards to the VoB writing contest 2017 winners at the event.
“The new generation is already one step ahead, they are presenting Bangladesh globally and talking about economy, finance and other important things,” he said, urging students to write more.
The week-long event features a series of seminars and outdoor activities to celebrate Voice of Business’s landmark achievement.
Seminars by industry experts and iconic figures in the field began on Sept 12 through a discussion on the cover topic. Seminars on branding will be held on the faculty premises, starting Sept 13.
