"Regular flights have started from Saturday morning, three domestic and an international flight in all," Deputy General Manager (Marketing & Communications) Kamrul Islam told bdnews24.com.

Services of the private airlines resumes after its founding chairman and managing director (MD) Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury joined again on Friday.

He had resigned last week and was on board again, but this time only as the managing director.

Choudhury resigned on Monday but the news became public on Tuesday.

He was the only one among the five directors looking after the business, holding the position of CEO and chairman.

After his resignation Md Mahtabur Rahman was appointed chairman and Shahinur Alam became MD.

But as the new management failed to manage the company’s day-to-day business and finances, the staff said they could no longer operate flights.

Many passengers were unaware of the shutdown and were held up at the airport. No passenger got a refund on their tickets, and as such travel became uncertain for many of them.

The new management had a meeting with Choudhury on Friday after which he was reinstated as the MD of the airlines.

United Airways got its licence from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) in 2005. It has been operating flights since 2007.

In April this year, the private airliner saved its licence by paying a fraction of its dues with CAAB. It cleared Tk 10 million against its dues of Tk 770 million.
