The government has raised the retail prices of octane, petrol and kerosene by Tk 5 per litre for June, while leaving diesel prices unchanged.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division issued a notification on Sunday setting the new rates, which will take effect from Jun 1.
Under the revised pricing structure, diesel will remain at Tk 115 per litre, while kerosene will rise to Tk 135, octane to Tk 145 and petrol to Tk 140 per litre.
According to the energy division, “In line with increases or decreases in fuel oil prices in the international market, retail consumer prices have been re-fixed at Tk 115 per litre for diesel, Tk 145 for octane, Tk 140 for petrol and Tk 135 for kerosene, effective from Monday, Jun 1, 2026.”
Compared with the rates in effect during May, octane has increased from Tk 140 to Tk 145 per litre, petrol from Tk 135 to Tk 140 and kerosene from Tk 130 to Tk 135.
Diesel remains unchanged at Tk 115.
According to the gazetted pricing structure, the ex-refinery price has been fixed at Tk 104.70 per litre for diesel, Tk 124.73 for kerosene, Tk 131.16 for octane and Tk 126.38 for petrol.
Retail prices were calculated after adding VAT at the trading stage, outstanding duties, oil marketing company margins, the equalised transport fare fund, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation’s fuel development fund, local transport costs and dealer commissions.
Dealer commissions have been set at Tk 3.16 per litre for diesel, Tk 2.63 for kerosene, Tk 5.91 for octane and Tk 5.78 for petrol.
The division also said road transport charges for fuel carried by tank lorries beyond 40km from depots would be determined under a Sept 26, 2023 order.
The government raised prices of all fuel types on Apr 18 following increases in global oil markets and kept those rates unchanged for May.
Bangladesh has followed an automatic fuel pricing mechanism since 2024, adjusting prices monthly based on international markets, import costs, exchange rates and tax structures.
