Bangladeshis will continue to swelter in oppressive heat and humidity despite a slight drop in temperature, says the weather office.

The Met officials say “the excessive humidity in the air is making the hot weather condition worse”.
The highest temperature recorded in Dhaka on Wednesday was 36.2 degrees Celsius which was 37 degrees on the previous day.
Satkhira endured the highest temperature of the country on Wednesday at 37.4 degrees Celsius in. It was 37.8 degree in Jessore on Tuesday.
“The heat condition is not unusual in this time of the year. The weather system will change in early June bringing in some pleasant air and monsoon system,” said one official.
Meteorologist Ruhul Kuddus told bdnews24.com , “In some areas, the temperature has dropped, but the heatwave continues in some other parts of the country.”
“It may continue until Saturday,” he forecast.
He said, “Though the average temperature is 35-36 degrees Celsius, the excessive humidity in the air is making the condition sultry.”
A moderate heatwave has been sweeping for the past few days through Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur and Dinajpur, which expanded to Feni, Hatia and Cox’s Bazar from Wednesday.
Srimangal and parts of Sylhet experienced rain on Wednesday, while there are chances of rain in other parts of the country including Dhaka on Sunday, the Met Office forecast said.
In the daily weather bulletin, it said a low-pressure system is now in place over the North-West Bay, extended up to the West Bengal and adjacent areas.
Rain and thunderstorm may occur in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours. Elsewhere in the country, the sky may be overcast with cloud, but a dry condition will prevail.
