A petition was filed with Chamber Judge’s court on Tuesday by Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul.

The bench of Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain will hear the mater later on Wednesday, he said.

The Awami League lawmaker stands accused of shooting a schoolboy in his constituency. He faces charges of looting and vandalism in another case.

The legislator had not been seen in public after the shooting incident until he surfaced on Monday after the High Court ordered him to appear before it during his bail petitions.

The court turned down the pleas and ordered him to surrender before the court of Gaibandha’s Chief Judicial Magistrate by Oct 18.

During Monday’s hearing, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam argued for not granting bail to the MP.

After the hearing, Liton’s counsel told bdnews24.com that the High Court order meant that police could not arrest his client within Oct 18.

Speaking to reporters in his office on Monday, the attorney general said that he would move the Supreme Court against the order.

“The court asked him to surrender within Oct 18. There are no specific instructions for the police to not arrest him, which will create confusion. So, we will go to the Supreme Court,” said Alam.
