One Hafizar Rahman of the village Uttar Shahabaz filed a case against Sundarganj Awami League chief Liton and nine others.

Sundarganj Police Station OC Ismail Hossain told bdnews24.com that the complainant filed the case on Sunday and police, after a preliminary investigation, took it ups as a regular case on Tuesday night.

Rahman alleged in the case that Liton and his associates went on the rampage in his house following a ‘minor incident’ on Sunday.

“MP Liton fired two blank shots, creating panic as he usually does. Then, his followers resorted to vandalism. They took away furniture and the corrugated tin sheets of my house,” he alleged.

Sundarganj Upazila Executive Officer said he was present during the recovery of the tin sheets and other stuff from a cold storage owned by the MP.

One Saju Mia filed a case against Liton on Saturday, alleging that he had shot at his son, fourth grader Shahdat Hossain Sourav, on Friday.

The licences of the MP’s firearms were cancelled later.

Police, however, are yet to arrest him.

Locals in Gaibandha alleged that his followers foiled their demonstration against him on Wednesday.
