Moulvibazar, Dec 1 (bdnews24.com)—Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday had a glass of Srimangal's famous seven-colour tea during her one day visit to Moulvibazar.
The tea's inventor Romesh Ram Gour made the tea for her at the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Rest House at noon.
He said the Prime Minister praised him saying the tea was very good.
Gour, owner of Nilkantha Tea Cabin situated at Srimangal's Kalighat Road, told bdnews24.com: "Parliament Chief Whip Abdus Shahid on Nov 24 night told me that the Prime Minister has wished to drink the seven-colour tea and that I have to make one special glass for her."
He said he served the tea, which is pretty well-known across the country for having seven layers each with different colours, to the Prime Minister at around 1pm at the BGB Rest House.
Heaving a sigh, Gour said the rare moment of serving his special tea to Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, could not be captured in a frame only because of security issues.
But, he would preserve the glass which the Prime Minister used as a souvenir.
Apart from Hasina, members of her entourage including Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Chief Whip Abdus Shahid, party Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, Social Welfare Minister Enamul Haque Mostofa Shahid and Minister without portfolio Suranjit Sengupta also attended to Romesh Ram Gour's special invention.
Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived at Srimangal in a helicopter and landed at around 12pm at the BGB helipad. Then she rested for a while at the rest house.
Later, she inaugurated the Srimangal Upazila Health Complex, turned into a 50-bed hospital from a 31-bed one.
At a meeting there, she announced setting up of a tea auction centre in Srimangal.
Sheikh Hasina arrived at Moulvibazar at around 1pm. There, she inaugurated the Moulvibazar 250-bed Capacity Hospital, Moulvibazar Met Office and Moulvibazar Polytechnic Institute.
She also laid the foundation stones of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Building, Moulvibazar Muktijoddha Sangsad Complex, Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Bhaban and the Technical Training Centre afterwards.
The Prime Minister was also scheduled to address a rally organised by the district unit of the ruling Awami League at the Moulvibazar Government School ground.
