The Jamaat-e-Islami chief was recently executed in Dhaka for heinous crimes during Bangladesh’s war with Pakistan.
Dabirul Islam, chairman of the parliamentary committee for the housing and public works ministry, told bdnews24.com about the plan on Thursday, a day after Nizami was executed.
“The committee will make the recommendation after holding discussions,” said the Awami League.
RAJUK, Dhaka’s development authorities, had allotted the five Katha plot to Nizami in ‘recognition to his work for the State’ in 2006. (1 Katha = 1.65 decimals)
The land in Banani, was allotted to one Azizur Rahim in 1995, but was handed to Nizami who was at that time industries minister in the BNP-Jamaat coalition government.
The authorities began investigation following a complaint by Rahim who had paid Tk 300,000 in instalments for the plot.
Nizami, after receiving the plot, gave power of attorney to Mission Developers Ltd, a firm owned by Jamaat leaders, a move not approved by RAJUK.
A building now stands on the plot at Road-18, Banani. Christened ‘Mission Nahar’, after Nizami’s wife Shamsun Nahar Nizami.
