Dhaka, March 15 (BDNEWS) – The corruptions of Masud Mian, 'controversial' SP of Rajshahi and an alleged 'patron' of the most wanted Bangla Bhai, have been discovered one after another following his withdrawal from the district, sources said Tuesday.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police disclosed the criminal activities and corruption records of SP Masud Mian to the Inspector General of Police.
According to an official letter of DIG Rajshahi addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) obtained by BDNEWS, Masud used to collect illegal tolls from police officers and constables from different police station under his district, and the drug traders and smugglers bribing them different way.
"His 'source' Khalil used to work for him on 'illegal drives'," according to the letter.
Besides, the closed SP (Masud Mian) also used to collect illegal bribes from his subordinate officials threatening them of close and suspend.
"Masud closed ASI Mohammad Rashidul Haq, constable Nurul Islam and constable Mohammad Israfil to the police line on March 1 and also suspended them on March 7 as they refused to pay him bribe," said the DIG informed IGP.
Besides, Masud used to recover contraband phensidyl by his 'source' Abdul Kuddus from Puthia Highway and later used to sell the drugs under the instruction of the SP.
Quoting the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charghat thana Abul Kalam, a police official of Rajshahi said Masud often put him (OC) under pressure to collect 'illegal toll' from the local businessmen.
Not only toll collection, Masud promoted ASI Abdul Majed to SI and transferred him Kakanhat Investigation Cell violating the rules within one month of his (Majed) suspension order.
Besides, the controversial SP also leased out about 100 mango trees to his another 'source' ignoring the rules after getting transfer order from Rajshahi.
It should be mentioned that the "controversial" police super Masud Miah, allegedly a patron of so-called Bangla Bhai, has finally left Rajshahi on March 11.
He was transferred on March 5. But, disobeying the order, he stayed in Rajshahi and lobbied to stay there.
