The National Board of Revenue has sued Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul along with his wife and son on charges of concealing information on their assets and tax dodge.
Cases alleged seven institutions owned by Babul concealed information about more than Tk 1.55 billion on the wealth statement and dodged paying in excess of Tk 4.5 million in taxes.
Various officials of the National Bureau of Revenue filed the cases in the court of Dhaka’s Senior Special Judge Jahurul Huq, the court’s additional PP told bdnews24.com.
The defendants of these cases are – Nurul Islam’s wife Salma Islam, son Shamim Islam, Jamuna Electric Manufacturing, Jamuna Spinning Mills Ltd, Shamim Roter Spinning Mills Ltd, Shamim Composite Mills Ltd, Jamuna Welding Electronics Ltd, Shamim Spinning Ltd and Jamuna Distillery Ltd.
The judge has fixed a hearing for the charges on May 26.
