He has also called for monitoring the public universities along with the private ones in order to tackle militancy.
Some of the attackers were found to be students of some private universities, a finding that prompted the government to raise awareness through meetings with the university authorities.
Inu, speaking at a discussion on citizens’ efforts to tackle militancy on Saturday, said : “This is for those who are creating a hullabaloo over some misled private university students – please note that there are pro-Jamaat students in renowned universities like Chittagong, Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Islami University.”
“Why aren’t you speaking about the universities that have been harbouring Jamaat-Shibir for 45 years?” he asked.
“I wonder why no-one is speaking against them. The pro-Jamaat teachers should be driven out of public universities,” he added.
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee acting President Shahriar Kabir said pro-BNP and pro-Jamaat industrialists founded North South University. Two students of the university were killed by law enforcers during the recent terror attacks.
He said the wife of hanged war criminal Jamaat chief Motiur Rahman Nizami founded Manarat Kindergarten which later extended up to Manarat University with ‘money from Saudi Arabia and Pakistani intelligence agency ISI’.
He also said two sons of Jamaat ideologue Ghulam Azam teach in NSU.
“If militants are not born there, then where will they be born ! We are not touching these institutions,” he said.
