Dhaka, Apr 11 (bdnews24.com) — The government has imposed a blanket ban on the use of mobile phones in classrooms.
The education ministry issued a circular on Monday banning use of cell phones in classrooms either by students or teachers.
The government move comes a day after child parliamentarians suggested taking steps in this regard.
The circular said use of mobile phones in classrooms by some teachers was creating hindrance in learning lessons by the students.
The circular instructed the educational institutions to take necessary steps in this regard.
During the seventh session of the current parliament last year, the education minister had termed 'serious' the charge of mobile phone use in classrooms.
Speaking at the eighth session of Children's Parliament at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Sunday, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid had assured that the ban would come within a day.
"If I go to my office today, I'll ensure the issuance of a gazette in this regard. The gazette must be issued on Monday, if not today," he said.
