The submission of the investigation report in the murder case of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Tarikuzzaman Sunny has been delayed for the 42nd time.
The report was due on Monday, but investigating officer Sub-Inspector Mashiur Rahman of Kutubpur River Police Outpost failed to submit it.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman set a new submission date of Sep 6, Prosecution Division Assistant Sub-Inspector Munia Akter said.
On Jul 14, 2022, a group of 16 people travelled from Dhaka on eight motorcycles to visit the scenic Moinot Ghat.
Sunny went missing that night after falling into the Padma River near the Ghat.
Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel recovered his body from near the scene the following afternoon.
His elder brother Hasanuzzaman filed a case that same night accusing 15 of Sunny's travel companions of pushing him into the river.
The suspects were later arrested and sent to jail, but they are currently out on bail.
They are Shariful Hossain, Shakil Ahmed, Sejan Ahmed, Rubel, Sajib, Nurjaman, Nasir, Maruf, Ashraful Alam, Jahangir Hossain Liton, Noman, Zahid, ATM Shahriar Momin, Maruful Haque Maruf and Rokonuzzaman, also known as Jitu.
Kutubpur River Police has investigated the case from the start, but Sunny's family remains frustrated by the prolonged delay.
