Tarique mourns Hadi, decries killing as 'political conspiracy'

He alleges that the murder was part of a “planned campaign” of violence aimed at “destroying democracy and derailing elections”

Tarique Rahman has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi, describing the killing as a “conspiracy-driven political murder”.

In a condolence message issued on Thursday, the BNP’s acting chief prayed for the salvation of Hadi’s soul and extended heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family.

He said, “We are watching with grave concern as certain criminal groups are carrying out planned killings and injuries across the country. This bloodshed is part of a broader blueprint.

“Enemies of democracy and the nation shot Hadi, leaving him critically injured, and [on Thursday] he died in Singapore.”

He condemned the killing and urged immediate action, saying: “This dedicated young politician’s murder is a calculated political killing. After the fall of the Awami League’s authoritarian rule through the student and public movement, conspirators are shedding blood again to establish misrule.

“They are actively attempting to destabilise the country, and the attack on Hadi is an expression of their intent to destroy democracy and sabotage elections.”

Tarique warned, “Unless these criminals are decisively punished, public safety and property will face extreme risk. The conspirators are lying in wait to exploit disorder. Everyone must unite to resist these bloodthirsty elements.”

Hadi, shot in the head during election campaigning in Dhaka a week ago, passed away at a hospital in Singapore.

Tarique Rahman reiterated that the perpetrators must be arrested immediately and face exemplary punishment for their actions.
