Dhaka, Aug 8 (bdnews24.com) - Politician, former lawmaker and BNP leader Farida Hasan was buried at her family graveyard at Karotia Zamindar Bari in Tangail, after
asr
prayers Friday.
She died at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka Thursday noon.
Her namaz-e-janaza was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban South Plaza Friday morning, where deputy speaker Akhter Hamid Siddiqui, former chief whip Khandaker Delwar Hossain, and other BNP leaders and former MPs attended.
Former BNP secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and Dhaka city mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka in separate messages expressed sympathy to members of the grieving family.
Her body was taken to Tangail by road, and a second namaz-e-janaza was held at Karotia Eidgah ground after
asr
prayers., attended by relatives and close friends including former deputy speaker Wazed Ali Khan Panni, retired captain Daud Ali Khan Panni and party leaders and supporters.
Farida Hasan was involved in progressive politics and cultural activities from the start of her student life. She is one of the founders of leading cultural organisation Chhayanaut.
Before joining BNP she was a central committee member of the National Awami Party (NAP). Her husband, noted left leader and politician Sayeedul Hasan, was killed by Pakistani occupation forces in 1971.
She left behind a daughter, renowned dance artist Sharmin Hossain, a son Andalib Hasan and a host of well wishers.
The Qul Khwani will be held at the residence of her younger sister Laila Kabir at Indira Road on Sunday.
