However, a unnatural death case over the death of Muntarin Mujib Chowdhury has been filed at Gulshan Police Station, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan zone Assistant Commissioner Nurul Alam said.

She died on Tuesday night after reportedly slipping and falling off the roof of the six-storey building they lived in at the capital’s Gulshan-2.

Questions rose after police did not visit the house of the MP, better known as Nixon Chowdhury, and different information regarding Muntarin’s unnatural death was given by Nixon’s assistants.

Her father and mother arrived in Dhaka from Canada on Thursday and took the body without any complaint, Gulshan police OC Rafiqul Islam said.

He told bdnews24.com the parents had pleaded for handover of the body without autopsy.

After she fell from the multi-storey building, Muntarin, 33, was rushed to Gulshan’s United Hospital in critical condition on Tuesday night. She died there afterwards.

Muntarin slipped and fell from the roof, Nixon’s personal assistant Khandker Jahidur Rahman had told bdnews24.com the following day.

Regarding a flurry of mixed reactions over her death, he had said, “This is not a suicide.”

Nixon and his wife, along with their daughter, lived in Flat 4-A on the fourth floor of Number 20, Road 76 in Gulshan-2.

However, building security guard Md Masud told bdnews24.com Md Rabiul, the guard on Tuesday night’s shift, had told him Muntarin fell from the fourth floor terrace.

DMP’s Gulshan division Deputy Commissioner Lutful Kabir had said they were not taking any steps over the unnatural death as no complaints were lodged.

Nixon Chowdhury is the current MP from Faridpur-4 constituency. He ran independently in the 10th parliamentary election.

Later, he joined the ruling Awami League.

Nixon’s parents are cousins of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Anti Corruption Commission earlier had questioned him over Padma bridge graft allegations. But the prime minister later at a rally before the Jan 5 national polls claimed none of her relatives were involved in the project.
