Muntarin Mujib Chowdhury, 33, allegedly slipped and fell, Nixon’s personal assistant Khandker Jahidur Rahman told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.
The lawmaker fell ill at home with respiratory problems after his wife's death but recovered on being given oxygen, said Rahman.
Muntarin had been rushed to Gulshan’s United Hospital in critical condition around 8:40pm on Tuesday, the hospital’s duty manager Mohammad Minhaz told bdnews24.com.
But she died soon afterwards.
Nixon and his wife, along with their daughter, lived on the building's fourth floor.
Regarding a flurry of mixed reactions over her death, PA Jahidur Rahman said, “This is not a suicide. She slipped and fell.”

“But they did not state the cause of the death.”
Police were yet to decide whether to autopsy the body to ascertain the nature of the death.
“No complaints have been lodged yet. We can’t do anything about this right now,” Kabir said.
However, quoting members of the family, Rahman said Muntarin’s Namaj-e-Janaza would be held at Gulshan’s Azad Mosque on Thursday.
She would be buried at Banani graveyard after her parents arrived from Canada.
