Election schedule to be announced in first half of December, says Election Commission

The commission says formal schedule to come roughly 60 days before election date

The Election Commission plans to announce the schedule in the first half of December to hold the general election before Ramadan in February next year.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah shared the tentative timeline at the EC Secretariat on Thursday.

He said the official schedule will be announced around 60 days ahead of polling day.

The decision follows a letter from the Chief Advisor’s Office asking the commission to hold the polls before Ramadan, expected to begin on Feb 18, 2026.

Although the commission has yet to hold a formal discussion on the letter, officials confirmed its arrival at the EC Secretariat.
