The Inqilab Moncho platform spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi, who was shot in the head by assailants, will be flown to Singapore on Monday, the Chief Advisor’s Office has confirmed.
On Sunday, Muhammad Yunus’s office said Hadi, a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, will be taken to the city state by air ambulance on Monday afternoon.
The decision came on Sunday during an emergency call conference held under the instructions of the chief advisor.
Participants included Cultural Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, the Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant for Health Affairs Md Sayedur Rahman, Evercare Hospital specialist Dr Zafor Iqbal, and Hadi’s brother Omar bin Hadi.
The CAO said all arrangements have been made to take him to the Singapore General Hospital’s accident and emergency unit.
Hadi, in critical condition, has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital since Friday. The medical board said on Sunday that his condition has not seen much improvement.
The CAO said the government has contacted several hospitals in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia for Hadi's advanced treatment for the past two days.
On Sunday, the chief advisor was informed of the matter after consultation with the specialist medical team at Evercare Hospital and discussion with the family members.
Meanwhile, around 8:30pm, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said the platform’s activists and his family have arranged an air ambulance for around Tk 5 million through loans, claiming they have not yet received any assistance from the government.
On the contrary, the CAO said in a Facebook post around 10pm: "All expenses related to Hadi's treatment will be borne by the state. The chief advisor has instructed [doctors and those relevant] to constantly monitor his treatment process."
In a conference call, Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant Sayedur updated Yunus on Hadi's condition.
The CAO said, "To this end [sending him to Singapore], all necessary preparations relating to the air ambulance, medical team, and travel have already been completed."
Hadi, one of the frontline leaders of the July Uprising, had been campaigning as a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency on Friday. He was later shot in the head while travelling in a moving battery-run rickshaw, with the assailant firing from a motorcycle.
The Inqilab Moncho activists quickly took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later that night, he was transferred to Evercare Hospital.
