The committee investigating the deaths of six newborns at Dhaka’s Ad-din Hospital has submitted its findings to the health ministry.

Md Zahid Raihan, additional director general (administration) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), confirmed that a full report had been submitted on Wednesday.

The ministry’s Public Relations Officer Mahmudul Hasan said Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain Bakul would brief the media on the findings at 4pm on Thursday.

Zahid declined to disclose the contents of the report.

A separate special investigation committee formed by the DGHS on Tuesday has yet to submit its findings.

Officials involved in the process said that report could be submitted on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 27, the day before Eid-ul-Azha, when six newborns in the hospital’s post-operative ward suddenly fell ill and died one after another.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare formed a three-member investigation committee later that day over the incident.
