President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has moved into his official residence, the Bangabhaban, with his wife Rahat Ara Begum and other family members.
He arrived at the Bangabhaban around 10:30am on Sunday, two days after being sworn in as the country's 23rd president.
He took his oath of office at the Darbar Hall of the Bangabhaban on Friday evening. Before moving into the presidential palace, he spent two days at house No. 35 on Hare Road.
As the president arrived at the Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out mounted contingent of the President Guard Regiment welcomed him at Gate-2 and escorted his car to the guard of honour area.
The PGR contingent then presented the president with a guard of honour. He inspected the guard.
At the Octagon, a special ceremonial area at the Bangabhaban, the president was welcomed with flowers by his Military Secretary Maj Gen ASM Bahauddin; Public Administration Secretary AJM Salahuddin Nagari; Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam; and Assistant Military Secretary Brig Gen Mohammad Raisul Islam.
After the formalities, the president went to his office, where he exchanged greetings with senior officials.
He later began his official duties in his chamber at the country's highest constitutional office.
Fakhrul had been staying at the 35 Hare Road residence after the BNP swept to power in the 13th parliamentary election and he was chosen as the local government minister in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s cabinet.
