The state-owned DAP fertiliser factory in Chattogram’s Anwara Upazila has resumed production after a 20-day closure caused by an ammonia crisis.

The factory, located in Rangadia, restarted operations on Saturday after securing a fresh supply of ammonia.

Alamgir Jalil, manager of the plant, told bdnews24.com: "As KAFCO has resumed operations, we are now receiving ammonia from them. Production at the DAP plant is now back in full swing."

The state-owned facility had been forced to halt production on Apr 19 when its primary ammonia sources dried up.

DAP festiliser typically relies on ammonia produced by the nearby Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) and Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL).

Both KAFCO and CUFL had previously suspended their operations due to a gas shortage.

The resumption is expected to ease concerns regarding the supply of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertiliser for the ongoing agricultural season.
