The National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reform (NICAR) has greenlighted the formation of Bogura City Corporation and five new Upazilas as part of a broader administrative restructuring plan.

The decision came at NICAR’s 120th meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman led the meeting, according to the Press Wing.

The newly approved administrative units include Bogura City Corporation and five Upazilas: Mokamtola in Bogura, Matamuhuri in Cox’s Bazar, Ruhea and Bhulli in Thakurgaon, and Chandrogonj in Lakshmipur.

The meeting was attended by Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Public Administration Abdul Bari, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, and other senior officials.
