A student has been shot dead after the assailants entered his house in Bagerhat’s Chitalmari Upazila.
The incident took place in Shibpur village of the Upazila on Thursday, said Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Shamim Hossain.
The dead, Amir Hamza, 23, was a first-year undergraduate student of Government Sundarban Adarsha College. He also worked at the Popular Diagnostic Centre.

They could not immediately confirm the motive behind the incident.
Hamza’s father Amin Munshi said, “I was standing in the courtyard of the house talking to Hamza around 4pm.
“Suddenly, six young men wearing helmets on three motorcycles entered the house, identifying themselves as police.
“When Hamza tried to run away, he fell on the bank of the canal. There, they shot my son in the head and fled. I don't know why they shot my son.”
