Three people including two women have been killed and a man injured in Faridpur Sadar Upazila, sending shockwave not only to their families, but across the village.
Kotwali Police chief Shahidul Islam said the murders took place in Gadadhar Dangi village of Aliabad Union around 9:30pm on Monday, but could not clarify the motive behind the attack.
The victims are Amena Begum, 70, her daughter Rahela Begum, 45, and their neighbour 40-year-old rickshaw puller Kabul Ahmed.
Another villager Riazul Islam was injured in the attack and subsequently admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Citing witnesses, police said Akash Mollah, the son of Harun Mollah, suddenly started hacking his grandmother Amena and aunt Rahela with a spade.
When Kabul and Riazul came to save the duo, Akash attacked them too.
Three of them died on the spot, said Shahidul, adding that the suspect immediately went into hiding.
On receiving information, a police team rushed to the scene and is now collecting information and samples.
As of late Monday night, police were preparing to send the bodies to a morgue for postmortem.
The situation in the area has been tense following the incident.
The police officer said they have launched a manhunt for Akash.
