President exchanges Eid greetings at Bangabhaban

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of life at Bangabhaban on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

He attended the Eid prayer on the Bangabhaban lawn on Monday, deviating from his usual practice of offering prayers at the National Eidgah.

After the prayer, he exchanged greetings for an hour from 10am, accompanied by his wife, Rebecca Sultana.

The event was attended by Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain, politicians, leaders of professional organisations, senior civil and military officials, diplomats, and people from different walks of life.

Army chief Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman, Navy chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, and Air Force chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan were also present at the greetings exchange ceremony.

Political figures attending included National Democratic Movement Chairman Bobby Hajjaj, Gano Dal Chairman ATM Golam Mawla Chowdhury, Labour Party General Secretary Khandaker Mirajul Islam, National People's Party General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Mostofa, Communist Party General Secretary Syed Nurul Islam, Bangladesh People's Party Chairman Siddiqur Rahman, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party General Secretary Dilip Das, and Jonotar Adhikar Party Chairman Tariqul Islam.

Speaking to bdnews24.com, Golam Mawla and Mirajul Islam expressed their gratitude for the invitation and said they were delighted to meet the president and exchange Eid greetings.

At the event, diplomats including Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma, US Chargé d'Affaires Tracy Ann Jacobson, and Palestinian Ambassador Yousef SY Ramdan exchanged Eid greetings with the president.

Later in the afternoon, Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus exchanged Eid greetings with several people at his office.

He attended the Eid prayers at the National Eidgah, where he greeted many attendees.
