Police have arrested 472 people in raids across different parts of Dhaka over the past 24 hours, including suspects linked to drug offences.
Legal action is under way against those arrested.
On Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said the arrests were made during drives in areas including Gulshan, Ramna and Lalbagh.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relation) Niaz Mehdi said the figures were compiled from information collected by the Police Control Room.
According to police, 54 cases were filed during the same 24-hour period.
Among those arrested, 30 were held by Ramna Division, 27 by Lalbagh, 87 by Wari, 54 by Motijheel, 58 by Tejgaon and 121 by Mirpur Division.
Another 45 people were arrested in Gulshan Division and 46 in Uttara, while personnel from the Detective Branch (DB) arrested four.
Items recovered during the drives include yaba tablets, cannabis, heroin, phensedyl, mobile phones, motorcycles, a CNG-powered autorickshaw, tyres, vehicle batteries, a laptop table, and imported sarees and three-piece suits.
The DMP also said one “victim” was rescued during the operation but did not disclose the person's identity.
