SSC pass rate drops sharply to 59.48% in Chattogram

The number of GPA-5 achievers falls by 2,445 from last year

The pass rate in Chattogram has fallen to 59.48 percent in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams, down nearly 13 percent points from last year.

Examination controller Prof Md Parvez Sazzad Chowdhury presented the results at a press conference at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chittagong auditorium on Monday.

A total of 130,219 students took the exams this year, with 77,453 passing.

The pass rate was 72.07 percent last year.

The number of GPA-5 achievers has also fallen.

A total of 9,398 students secured the highest grade point average this year, compared with 11,843 last year.

The pass rate was 84.41 percent in science, 60.12 percent in business studies and 38.79 percent in humanities.
