The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources has made the use of the Fuel Pass app mandatory for motorcycles at 68 filling stations across Dhaka City.

For 18 specific stations on this list, cars must also use the app to purchase fuel, according to a ministry announcement on Monday.

The move is part of the government’s initiative to bring transparency and monitoring to the fuel sector.

By replacing manual sales with a QR code-based digital system, authorities aim to curb long queues, traffic congestion, and the practice of a single vehicle taking fuel multiple times through irregular means.

"The use of the Fuel Pass app will be made mandatory for all filling stations in Dhaka Metropolitan very soon," the ministry said in a Facebook post, urging users to register via the Google Play Store or the official website.

The 18 stations where refuelling now require to have the app registration for all include Sonar Bangla Service Station, Trust Filling Station, Satata & Co., and City Filling Station, Gulshan Service Station, Eureka Enterprise, Sam Associates, Sumatra Filling Station, Masud Hasan Filling Station and Seba Green Filling Station.

Meghna Model Pump, Nikunja Model Service Centre, Khalek Service Station, Karim & Sons, Diganta Filling Station, Kamal Trading Agency, and SP Filling Station Ltd in Gabtoli are also on the list.

The Fuel Pass system was first launched on a trial basis on Apr 9 at two stations in Tejgaon and Asad Gate.

Following initial tests, the pilot was expanded on Apr 18 to include more stations in Dhaka and several other districts.

By Apr 26, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division confirmed that cars would be integrated into the system in phases, starting with “Ka”, “Kha”, and “Ga” series vehicles.
