The Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) has re-elected AKM Moinuddin, special correspondent of United News of Bangladesh (UNB), as its president, while Emrul Kayesh, special correspondent of Bangla Vision, has been elected the new general secretary.
The new executive committee was formed on Wednesday following elections held during DCAB’s annual general meeting at the World Literature Centre auditorium in Dhaka.
Moinuddin defeated Rashed Mehdi, editor of Views Bangladesh, in the race for president. Emrul won his post against incumbent Arifuzzaman Mamun of Amader Shomoy and Ishrat Jahan Urmi of DBC News.
Abeda Sultana Mukta, diplomatic correspondent of Desh Television, was elected vice president, defeating Robiul Haque of Khaborer Kagoj.
Other posts were filled uncontested: Morshed Hassib Hasan of Channel 24 as joint secretary general, Nahid Hossain of Alap.news as office secretary, and Md Rubayet Hasan of Deepto TV as treasurer.
Executive committee members elected are Atiqur Rahman (Daily Jobabdihi), MAK Jilani (Shomoyer Alo), Bashir Ahmed (Daily Amar Desh), Pantho Rahman (Channel i), and Khurram Zaman (Amader Notun Shomoy).
Earlier, outgoing president Moinuddin presided over the annual general meeting, where outgoing GS Arifuzzaman Mamun and treasurer Morshed Hassib presented the annual reports.
