Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan says future governments must remember those who contributed to the July Uprising.
“We have to remember the July Martyrs, the injured, and those who took part for the rest of our lives. Their contributions are why Bangladesh has become independent for a second time. There is no question about this," he said.
“Not only us, the governments that come after us must also remember them. That is what the people of Bangladesh want.”
His remarks came on Friday during a visit to a possible location for a July Memorial at July Memorial Park in Chattogram’s Panchlaish area.
Regarding the building of the memorial in Chattogram, Adilur said: “A memorial is definitely needed in Chattogram. There have been discussions about where it will be built. Since this park is in the name of martyrs, the idea was to have it in the middle of this park if possible.

“If designs for it are shown to us, we will consider doing something like whichever is the most beautiful.
“We will also have to consider the opinion of the advisor to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the advisor of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. With their opinions, we want to build a memorial such that the memory of the martyrs in Chattogram remains immortal.”
