Another child has died of measles at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
The child died around 3:45am on Friday, taking the child death toll from the disease at the hospital to six, said Associate Professor Golam Mowla of the MMCH Department of Paediatrics.
The four-month-old infant was brought and admitted to MMCH from Kishoreganj on Mar 24, he said. In addition to measles, the child was also suffering from heart problems and pneumonia.
Nine more measles patients have been admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours. This takes the total number of child measles admissions at MMCH to 67.
Dr Mowla said, “A total of 181 children have been diagnosed with measles at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital from Mar 17 to 9am on Apr 3.”
“A total of 112 have recovered and returned home. Six children have died while undergoing treatment.”
He urged everyone to remain alert to prevent the spread of the disease.
