The government has appointed 1,051 executive magistrates to perform duties across Bangladesh during the Feb 12 general election and referendum.
The appointments were made through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday, granting the officials authority to conduct mobile courts.
According to the notification, the executive magistrates will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the electoral code of conduct, maintaining overall law and order in their assigned constituencies, preventing crimes, and working with law-enforcing agencies and striking forces, particularly the Border Guard Bangladesh and the Coast Guard.
The ministry said the officials will carry out mobile court operations from Feb 8 to Feb 14.
They have been instructed to attend training on Feb 5 and report to the district magistrates or returning officers by Feb 7.
