Tuhin Hossain, one of the four people hospitalised with burn injuries after an air-conditioner exploded in their home in Dhaka’s Jatrabari, has died.
He was undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute, said Tuhin died at 12:30pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
“He suffered burns on 47 percent of his body,” he said.
The incident took place around midnight on Friday, according to Kamruzzaman, chief of Jatrabari Police Station.
The four victims were admitted to the burn incident following the incident.
OC Kamruzzaman said, "It is assumed that the indoor section of the AC exploded as it had not been cleaned for a long time."
The victims were identified as private sector employeeTuhin Hossain, 38, his wife Eva Akter, 30, and their sons Tanvir, 9, and Tawhid, 7.
Dr Shawon Bin Rahman said Tuhin suffered burns on 47 percent of his body, Eva 15 percent, Tanvir 40 percent, and Tawhid 8 percent.
The rest of Tuhin’s family are still undergoing treatment at the institute.
