India's Border Security Force (BSF) has attempted to push 11 people into Bangladesh through the Darshana border in Chuadanga district, but the move has been thwarted by Bangladesh's Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), officials said on Sunday.

The incident took place at dawn near the Joynagar border area, according to Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of the Chuadanga-6 BGB Battalion.

BGB officials and local residents said the BSF had gathered 11 individuals on the Indian side near Main Pillar 77, adjacent to the Darshana international checkpoint, and attempted to send them across the border into Bangladesh.

When informed, BGB personnel quickly took up positions along the border. Local villagers also joined them. Facing resistance, the BSF eventually backed down and removed the group from the zero line, they said.

"The BSF attempted a push-in operation, but BGB prevented it," Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan said. "The individuals concerned were later taken away from the border area."
