Four people, including a teenager, have been killed in separate road crashes in Madaripur and Manikganj.
Both accidents took place on Thursday afternoon, police said citing witnesses.
In Madaripur, the fatalities occurred after a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a truck at Sadar Upazila.
Madaripur Sadar Model police chief Abul Kalam Azad said the dead in the district are Saiful Islam, 33, and Nazmul Khan, 17. They were relatives.
“The duo was heading for Madaripur town from Sadar Upazila on a motorbike. The vehicle was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction at Bahadurpur Union around 4:30pm,” the officer said.
Locals rescued both and rushed them to Madaripur District Hospital where they were declared dead.
In Manikganj, 40-year-old Monayem Khan and his wife Jotsna Akter died after the motorbike they were riding was knocked down by a bus at Shibaloy Upazila.
As the couple were travelling to Paturia, a recklessly driven pickup van tried to overtake a Dhaka-bound bus, leading to the accident on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, according to police.
Monayem died while being taken to a local hospital, where Jotsna succumbed to her injuries later on, said Boronggail Highway Police chief Harun Or Rashid.
Traffic was disrupted on the highway for a while due to the accident, he said.
